Cross Sector Initiative Works for the Unemployed
As announced in the Birmingham Mail (23rd July 2009) the Cross Sector Partnership, an initiative uniting the expertise of the voluntary, community, private and public sectors in a drive to provide vital support for people battling unemployment, has been launched in Birmingham.
In recognition of our expertise and commitment to local people, Crossover was invited to be a member of the Cross Sector Partnership Board which will lead the way to improving services within communities as unemployment figures rise and more individuals and families suffer.
In a recent press interview, the Board's Chair Muj Choudhury, PPDG national director of regeneration and business development said "Our vision is to build a partnership model that will be rolled out nationally and remain, post-Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF) to provide long-term on-going support to individuals, combining the engagement expertise of the voluntary sector, with the programmes and authorities of the public sector and the bespoke training and job opportunties within the private sector."

Hodge Hill Awaits the Working Neighbourhoods Fund
We wait with bated breath to hear whether our consortium bid to Birmingham City Council has been successful.
The Working Neighbourhoods Fund is a Government initiative to deliver support to people who live in areas of the country with an unemployment rate in excess of 25%. Crossover has been working with a number of local organisations and private agencies to ensure that the work we do can be better resourced.
We believe in working locally, even down to the street where you live. Because of our experience in providing support and advice in Hodge Hill, and because the other local organisations involved in our consortium have similar values, we believe that we are simply the best in helping those people other organisations cannot reach.
Crossover Will Partner Seetec in Flexible New Deal
Flexible New Deal will begin delivery in East Birmingham in October 2009. This is a programme which provides targeted support to the long-term unemployed.
After one year out of work individuals will be referred to agencies in the city for specialist help in breaking down the barriers which are preventing them from joining the labour market.
Crossover plans to support hundreds of people over a 5-year period by providing a range of services tailored to the individual which will include work trials, work placements, support into work and beyond the first day to help every person achieve their potential.
Whilst FND is a mandatory government initiative aimed at reducing benefit claimants, every individual who is referred to Crossover will receive our personal care and attention in finding and maintaining the best course of action for themselves.
